Circumnavigating Lake Geneva WI

At 7:15 am on Saturday June 23 three friends and I began our hike around Lake Geneva WI (21 miles). I was making the trek as part of my training regimen for the Chicago 3-Day (60 miles in 3 days). Dave, Steve and Pat did it just for fun. The weather was absolutely perfect, 70 degrees and cloudy the entire day with an occasional calm breeze.

An ordinance requires all of the residents who own lake front property to maintain a public path known as the Lake Shore Path. Many of the homes are multi-million dollar mansions with extensive gorgeous landscaping while others are of more modest size, though still above the 7 figure value mark. The walk is a wonderful adventure with the path and scenery changing every 25 yards or so.

We started at Williams Bay and took the counter clockwise direction. This put us into the town of Lake Geneva at around 12:45 pm, just in time for lunch. Potbelly’s was the restaurant of choice and after a sub sandwich followed by some Cold Stone ice cream for desert we were on our way again to complete the final third of the circumnavigation. We finished at about 4:15 pm, 9 hours after we began. Enjoy the pictorial journal.
